Airsoft – Airsoft Gun Review Supports UAA North vs South III (NvS3)

UAA North vs South III
By Fallujah

UAA North vs South 3 (NvS3)

The Scenarios are based on ACTUAL EVENTS.

KOLWEZI, ZAIRE, 1977: OPERATION LEOPARD. Katanganese rebels from the southern portion of the country have rebelled. Calling themselves the “Katanga Tigers”, they seize the main town of Kolwezi and proclaim independence from Zaire, formerly the Democratic Republic of Congo, or Belgian Congo in the ’60’s. Being held by the Katanganese Tigers are a number of European hostages mostly French Christian missionaries.

France launches OPERATION LEOPARD to attack Kolwezi and bring back the hostages alive. The 2REP (airborne) of the French Foreign Legion is sent in to parachute near Kolwezi, enter the town, rescue the hostages, and repatriate them back to Europe. A main force is to follow and assist in the evacuation. However, just prior to the para drop, the hostages have been separated by the rebels.

THE MISSION: a company of your army will para drop and insert into the battlefield prior to the main force, for reconnaissance, to locate the 50 hostages who are scattered throughout the battlefield. Thereafter, the main force will enter and assist in the evacuation of the hostages. But between the paras and the main force are the enemy forces which have been able to form a blocking force to prevent the hostages from escaping. Armored technicals full of drug-crazed rebels also prowl the roads with machine guns and heavy mounted ordnance. Your paras must therefore link up with the main force and bring the hostages back alive.

SIERRA LEONE, 2000 OPERATION BARRAS. The British peacekeeping mission has been beset by a crisis. 20 comrades from the Royal Irish Guards have been seized by the Revolutionary United Front (RUF). Ruthless and drug-crazed rebels known as West Side boys or West Side Niggas operating in the northern part of the country, have taken the hostages to their stronghold in the towns of Geri Bana and Magbeni. The hostages are tied together and cannot be separated.

A joint force of the British Parachute Regiment and SAS has been tasked for the rescue. However, upon entry by heli-borne assault, the rescue force has been split into 3. Only 1/3 of the force has been dropped at the correct site, the others have been scattered over deep in enemy territory.

THE MISSION: The hostages cannot be separated. However five among the group have disappeared. Your job is to locate and bring back every man alive. Compounding your problem are the main forces of the enemy which are also similarly, and confusingly, scattered over the battlefield. You must use your maps to link up with your troops, or bring the hostages back alone through enemy territory.

North vs South III

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:

The UAA Code of Ethics will apply to all games.

1. FPS Limit- Strictly 450 at .20.
2. Each side will have its respective CAMP. Both scenarios will be 2 hours each, with a lunch break of 1 hour between.
3. All ROADS are SAFE AREAS. You may cross the roads, but you may not travel along the roads (you may travel along the road gutter). You must travel through the jungle. This is Africa.
4. The roads will be patrolled by armed technicals with drunken rebels with heavy machine guns. The rebels may shoot at you, and kill you, but you may not engage the rebels. If you encounter the rebels you must either hide or run away.
5. A Headcount of hostages rescued by either side will be taken at the respective camps of both sides at the end of each game.

PROCEDURE WHEN HIT:

STEP 1: Raise your weapon
STEP 2: Exit the jungle and go to the nearest road
STEP 3: Walk back to your camp with weapon raised and your mask on
STEP 4: Re-spawn at your camp after 15 minutes.

WARNING TO ALL PLAYERS:

The site is deceptively flat. However, the terrain is quite harsh consisting of long elephant grass (”talahib”). We have endeavored to cut trails. But be advised that it is an extremely hot site with little air inside the jungle. So all players are strongly cautioned to:

1. PACE YOURSELF – Those who are not especially fit, are strongly advised to TAKE IT EASY and don’t go all out to fast. Player fatigue was a deciding factor in North vs. South 1.

2. HYDRATE- All players should bring at least a bottle of water or hydration device into the battlefield. These are 2 hour long events. North vs. South is famous for being “death marches”.

3. CONSERVE AMMO- Due to the large number of enemy forces, and long playing time, everyone is advised to CONSERVE BB’S AND BATTERIES. In previous North vs. South games, 1 deciding factor was ammo.

NORTH VS. SOUTH IS THE PREMIER AND ORIGINAL EVENT WHICH DEFINED THE “MEGA GAME” FOR AIRSOFT. IF YOU WANT TO ENGAGE IN A RARE BATTALION SIZED ENCOUNTER WITH TEAMS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE.

Good luck to all!

A&K M-Series Box Magazine Review(Manual Winding)

A&K M-Series Box Magazine review by Skladfin

ak-m-series-box-magazine.jpg

Ever since a couple months ago when I saw a C-Mag type magazine for Armalite guns… I felt something special….

It’s Huge
It’s Buff
It’s Solid

and most importantly…

IT’S MANLY

But there were problems to purchase this mag.
First: Most Retailers don’t have this in stock
Second: They are undoubtedly ridiculously expensive($200CDN)

so I started looking around at WGC shop and Redwolf, they did have Box magazines, they looked quite nice, and just as manly. Though, the price was still scoring “Insane” on the price meter($100USD). So I looked around… even more….

And one day I miraculously happened to discover a RIDICULOUS deal on ebay.

A&K 5000rd Box mag for M16/M4 series
$10 CDN

o_O!!!

Item:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Tactical-M4-16-Se…QQcmdZViewItem

Seller(Has MANY more Airsoft related items for CHEAP):
http://myworld.ebay.ca/cmartlink/

So I purchased one of those, and the guy in Hong Kong(Ebay has a lot of Airsoft Accessories sold on it, especially from Hong Kong) airmailed it to me and I got it in about 1 and a half week.

When it arrived, the box that the magazine was stored in was somewhat squished and beaten.

The mag spec said:
3000 BBs in the Main Loader
2000 BBs in the Spare Loader
- They lied on this, it’s actually the exact opposite. 2000 in the Main, and 3000 in the Spare.

How the mag works:
First I will say that there are 2 floors of platforms in the Mag. First Floor, and the Basement. Obviously the First Floor is above the Basement level. In the mag, the First floor is where the BBs are loaded from. Basement is where the Spare BBs are stored, and the BBs inside the Basement is not directly usable.

Now You put the BBs through a opening at the back which you can open/close(the opening isn’t that big). And the BBs will stay on the First floor, At this point, You can just wind the Wind thing on the bottom of the mag(Which is practically same as all other hi-cap mags) and use the mag. If you want extra bullets just in case, you can open a “Hole” in the first floor by turning a knob on the back of the mag. This will cause the BBs to fall into the Basement, which, later if you run out of BBs in the First Floor, you can invert the mag and open the “Hole” again, and the BBs will transfer upstairs.

Other things to note:
-Fully plastic(pretty solid though, not bad)
-You need to literally smack the mag into the gun since most of the time it doesn’t go all the way in(Looks like “I mean business” when you do it :P )

Now using the Mag, it worked just like normal High Caps, no jam, no nothing, and since it’s SO DAMN huge(and has a flat bottom), You can literally use it as a Bipod.

The mag also weighs barely anything by itself, but if you do manage to fill up the whole 5000round capacity in it with 0.2g BBs, It will give you about 1.5kg of extra weight on your gun. 3000 Round will give you exactly almost 1KG. So it weighs you down quite alot. But then, more weight is Manly too

Jing Gong AK47 Review

Jing Gong AK47 Review by Coma

Alright, so since my own AK is in the shop (new internals at last!) I got my hands on the Jing Gong AK-47 today at a game, and tried it out for the day. As some know, this is a Marui clone sold by buyairsoft.ca at a price of $275. Since there is a lack of reviews, heres what I can tell you.

First Impressions

Its an AK-47, looks much like a stock Marui. The fake wood isn’t quite as good. The metal parts have a strange hue to them that some may not like. These parts include the top cover, the gas tube, and the front sight. It feels nice, weighted well with a mag and battery. One of the major things is that yes, it comes with an orange tip. I noticed that only the barrel nut is painted orange. No problem I thought, since that screws off. Nope, buyairsoft.ca has glued it on it would seem. There must be a way to get some solvent into the threads to get it off, but I found that to be a pain.

Another differance is that where they is a metal tube/stick battery storage under the top cover on the Marui, the JG has a weight. This is screwed into the body. There were some issues with the bolt that I will cover later.

Getting Ready for the Day

First thing I did was set the hop-up. I found this much more difficult than on my own AK. There is just one sweet spot where you can get any range. Outside of that, it would seem that the hop-up has almost no effect on the BBs. Someone more in the know might have a better answer for you, but my suggestion would be to just replace the hop-up unit off the bat. Also, there is a nub on the inside of the bolt handle that can catch the hop-up adjustment lever if you don’t pay attention. The lever will move from this.

Now, the JG is advertised as firing at 350 fps. I don’t believe it, personally. There wasn’t a chrony availible that day so I’ll have to update after I find out. I estimate it was firing at about 280-300 fps. About the same or a bit harder than a stock Marui.

On the Field

The JG handled just like I remember my stock AK working. The only problem I encountered was that some of my mags did not feed in the JG. They were kinda well-used G&P mid caps and CA standards. They fed fine in the past in my own AK but skipped BBs in the JG. The G&Ps in particular were very loose in the mag-well. However, the hi-caps that came with the AEG fed and worked just fine. An interesting feature of these were a quick-wind option. A hole in the side of the mag near the bottom provides access to an allan key socket attached to the internal winder. Maybe one full turn and you are ready to go. I found this to be a useful feature.

Conclusion

I didn’t get a chance to look at the internals, and even then I wouldn’t know what I’m looking at. I was pretty happy with how the JG performed overall aside from the annoying problems with the hop-up. I was very surprised for a Chinese clone AEG. I would reccomend it as a base for a cheap project, a loaner gun, or just to see how you like using an AK.

I compared the JG to my own TM AK-47. Its had stock internals for a long time now, and I’ve not used it with the upgraded guts. I would say they are comparible. In the long run we will see how things hold up.
